Information to the patients
This department is one of the pioneers in neurosurgery in
India. An entire generation of neurosurgeons have trained
and worked in this centre from across the country.
This centre has pioneered in Endoscopic Neurosurgery in the
country where a small hole is made in brain and a
telescope is passed inside to treat the tumor. This does
not require big cuts over the head. It can be done in less
time and early recovery is possible.
Department has facilities for Stereotactic neurosurgery
where tumors deeply located in brain can be accessed
without damaging the normal surrounding brain.
Spinal and cranial Microneurosurgery
is being done regularly. Transoral surgery for the
treatment of CV junction anomalies is being done. There
are plans to start functional neurosurgery in near future,
once the equipments are acquired.
There are two outpatient clinics per week (Monday and
Thursday) no.
17. The department has two OPDs per week for follow up
patients (Tuesday and Wednesday).
The elective operation list is on all the six days of the
week. and emergency neurosurgical services are available
round the clock through out the week.
