About the department-

The Department has been rendering anaesthesia services to all surgical specialties and super specialties since its inception. It also provides anaesthesia care in remote locations like cardiac cath lab, radiology suit, electroconvulsive therapy etc. Round the clock Anaesthesia services are provided for Trauma and other Surgical Emergencies. The Surgical wing of the Critical Care Unit is managed by one of the professors and resident anesthetists. The department has always been on the forefront for providing resuscitative measures and anaesthesia care to the victims of riots, bomb blasts and natural calamities.

On academic front, the department is engaged in providing training in post graduate diplomas and  degrees. Hundreds of  anesthetists have qualified from this department with many of them performing excellent in the University exam. The department also imparts training to interns and undergraduates and nursing students.

The senior staff members in the department are involved in providing medical coverage to VIP and VVIPs of the country during their stay in Mumbai.
